Flying Books En/No

Flying Books is a humanitarian, literary charity run by professional children book authors and illustrators in Norway.
The first initiative for Flying Books came at the annual meeting of NBU (Norwegian Children's and Youth Book Authors) in the spring of 2022. The artists want to contribute with their artistic tools, to empower children and young people in crisis. Flying Books produce and distribute small books - flying books -in different languages to create hope.

We are witnessing major global humanitarian crises and more than 50 million children and young people are displaced. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) report: "What is the evidence on the role of the arts in improving health and well-being" from 2020, art plays a significant role in people's physical and mental health.

The board of Flying Books consists of children's and young adult book authors. We organize and coordinate the work in an interdisciplinary working group that aims to motivate and engage a larger group of authors, illustrators and artists to contribute with their own material.
The agreement between the artist and the Flying Books association deals with copyright and attribution, everything will be subject to Norwegian law and non profit.

The working team behind Flying Books are Mari Kjetun, Ingeborg Eliassen, Line Renslebråten, Guri Guri Henriksen and Elisabeth Helland Larsen. The project is so fare supported by Norsk Forfattersentrum and Norsk Barne- og Ungdomsbokforfattere.
